Eendrag Men's Residence

Jeandre was appointed musical director of his university men’s residence serenade group, a 20 member ensemble performing at national level with vocal arrangements and choreography. In 2011, the group, PlutoSêr, reached the finals for the first time in 20 years, marking a significant achievement for Eendrag. Jeandre was responsible for all musical arrangements and artistic direction, while outsourcing choreography.

Jeandre was engaged to open Stellenbosch University for the year 2010 with the South African national anthem, performing for dignitaries and first year students with their parents in the grand assembly hall, which seats around 5,000 people.

Tenor Soloist and Choir Member
Stellenbosch University Choir

Jeandre was appointed lead tenor soloist and choir member in the first tenor section of the prestigious Stellenbosch University Choir under the direction of maestro Andre van der Merwe. In 2010, the choir competed at the World Choir Games in China, winning three categories, where Jeandre also performed soloist roles on this international stage.

Jeandre was appointed a lead vocalist for the Praise & Worship team at the largest student church at Stellenbosch University, Kruiskerk. In this role, he led and managed the vocal team, while also supporting the musical director with arrangements and the general management of the band.

Eskom Holdings

Jeandre received more than 20 separate engagements during this period to provide light classical entertainment at gala dinners, year end functions, CEO inaugurations and other events for Eskom Holdings, the corporate firm where he was employed as a structural engineer. The most notable engagement was a gala dinner attended by the then President of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma.

Jeandre formed part of the first tenor section of the Scholars Baroque Aotearoa chamber choir, specialising in early period music under the guidance of maestro Chalium Poppy. It was here that he began exploring the world of early period classical music.

Jeandre was accepted into New Zealand’s national export choir, Voices NZ, under the leadership of maestra Dr Karen Grylls of the Auckland University Conservatorium. He was also invited to audition for the 24-voice chamber choir section of Voices NZ, which frequently toured internationally. After being successfully selected, he had to decline the position due to the significant time commitment required to participate in this elite ensemble due to his professional engineering commitments at the time.
